Title: Assessment of child occupant protection in NCAP tests
Authors: Michael Paine
and others,
Country: Australia.
Abstract: Since 1999 the Australian New Car Assessment Program
(ANCAP) has included child dummies restrained in child restraints in
crash tests of new vehicles. We review the options for assessing the
protection afforded to child occupants of motor vehicles by analysis of
ANCAP crash tests and design features of vehicles. The aim is to
encourage vehicle manufacturers to give greater thought to protecting
child occupants in rear seats of vehicles. This includes young children
in dedicated child seats and older children using adult seat belts.
